Headed Home

Filed under: General — Jesse @ 9:58 am

It’s been two days shy of a year since I was in the United States and it’s been just over a year since I’ve seen my family. In about six hours my flight leaves from Taipei. About a day an a half later, I’ll finally be home and I can relax for the next five or six weeks. It’s gonna be great.

At any rate, sorry for the lack of updates recently. As you can imagine, things have been pretty busy the last few weeks. Hopefully I’ll be more diligent at updating while I’m home.

Debt Free

Filed under: General — Jesse @ 9:12 pm

June 6th, 2006 was a landmark day. A day that will live forever in annals history. Well, for me it was at least. Therefore, I fully expect it to be a monumental occasion for everyone else as well.

Let me preface this by saying I am lucky enough to not a have a car payment as I paid off my truck quite some time ago. I am also very fortunate to have a motorcycle that I was able to pay cash for when I bought it four years ago. The only outstanding debt I had (“had” being the functional word) was my student loan. I have been working very hard over the last five years to get rid of it, often throwing more than the minimum payment at it in the hopes of finally being rid of the stupid thing.

Yesterday, I had the honor of making my last payment and am now completely debt free. I don’t owe anyone jack. Zilch. Zip. Nada. Everything I have is mine. It belongs to no one else. It’s a great feeling and I highly recommend it. Actually, great doesn’t even begin to describe it. I don’t think there is an English word that accurately portrays this feeling.

So, how do I plan on rewarding myself? You guessed it… by spending money. Ironic, no? The next question is, “What should I buy?” Any suggestions? I was thinking of a Canon SD600.
